Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC)
Also known as purified, refined or synthetic Calcium Carbonate. It has the same chemical formula as other types of Calcium Carbonate, such as Limestone, Marble and Chalk. It is a high purity milky white component derived from high grade Limestone.
Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) is an innovative product, derived from lime, which has many industrial applications. PCC is made by hydrating high-calcium quicklime, and then reacting the resulting slurry, or “milk-of-lime”, with carbon dioxide. The resulting product is extremely white and typically possesses a uniform narrow particle size distribution.
PCC is available in numerous crystal morphologies and sizes, which can be tailored to optimize performance in a specific application. It is an important inorganic chemical for a variety of Industries. It is an extender, which enhances the properties of product by virtue of characteristics and offers cost advantage in formulations. This product is a solid Precipitate of Calcium Carbonate of high degree of whiteness with a uniform and narrow Particle Size Distribution.
PCC is primarily used in the following industries and applications:
- Paints : Emulsion Paint, High Dispersion Paint & Ink Formulations, Polyacrylate Paints, Alkyd Resin Paints, and others.
SC PCC 10 - YB is a specially developed uncoated grade of Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) for emulsion paint application. The finer and narrow particle size distribution, high degree of whiteness and brightness and scalenohedral shape of SC PCC 10 - YB allows partial replacement of TIO2 in paint formulations and thus facilitating highly economical paint with the best opacity, brightness and scrub resistance.
SC PCC 20 - YB grade is an extender to main pigment in high dispersion paint & ink formulations. The fine particles of Micro coat 202 provide high dispersion characteristics. Due to its better optical properties and higher chemical purity, the end user can reduce TiO2 %.
SC PCC 60 - YB is a micro biologically tested grade for use in pharmaceutical and food applications. Its higher chemical purity allows to use it as a calcium source, an antacid, a neutralizer and filtration aid in anti biotic and as a bulking agent in tablets.
SCC PCC 70 – YB This grade is specially developed for toothpaste application. Micro biologically tested SCC PCC 70 - YB is used as a calcium source, cleaning and polishing agent in tooth paste formulations. Its main characteristics are superior chemical purity, high degree of brightness/ whiteness and controlled viscosity.
